Emiliano Ponzi "Breath"

A new work by Emiliano Ponzi enriches the MACCA in Peccioli.

*Breath*—the new work by Emiliano Ponzi and Dario Spinelli, curated by Cristiano Seganfreddo—is a 10-meter-tall kinetic sculpture made of satin-finished steel, set upon a circular base eight meters in diameter.

A constellation of metal elements rotates continuously around its central axis, capturing light and wind. At its core, a mechanical flower slowly opens at dawn and closes at dusk, following the natural cycle of light. It is this dual movement—continuous on the outside, yet cyclical and almost imperceptible on the inside—that gives the work its name.

*Breath* does not impose itself upon the landscape; instead, it seeks to synchronize and engage in a dialogue with it, making visible what normally escapes perception: the passage of time, the movement of air, and the shifting light within the landscape.
