“Castellaccia” is the historic panoramic viewpoint in Peccioli. Here stood an ancient fortress in defense of the town, as part of a medieval castle, probably formed by two fortified towers; we can find reference of it in the coat of arms of the Municipality of Peccioli, although only with one tower, and in the medallion of the mantle of the local patron San Verano, a painting stored at the Museum of Sacred Art.

Completely destroyed during World War II, it was made available again thanks to the work by Vittorio Messina Acropolis, which renders the importance of a fundamental place for the history of the village. At the base of the stairway leading to Castellaccia is another work by the same artist: Fontana.
